The Health Benefits of Rebounding

The human body is a biological machine that responds to its environment. Our social and physical lives have changed, but our system still operates with the same necessities and reliances it did when we didn't have the luxuries of technology.

On this page we will describe some of the major systems the body uses to maintain itself and how using a rebounder only a few minutes a day can help provide the body the stimulation it needs to help keep all these functions running at an optimal level.

From cleansing the blood to building and maintaining muscle, detoxifying the skin, burning fat and increasing your blood circulation, rebounding is a full-body gift, much like a multi-vitamin, that supplements our day to day lives with what may be lacking in our fitness diet.

The Lymphatic System
Rebounding is a tremendous exercise for your lymphatic system. Your lymphatic system is a network that runs throughout your whole body and its primary function is to flush toxins from your body.

Your lymphatic system is part of your immune system. Your lymphatic system contains a network very similar to veins in your body and is full of fluid used to support your immune system and to collect toxins and waste matter from cells in your body. Unlike veins that have valves to help the fluid contained in them to flow and move around your body, the lymphatic system does not have the same sort of valve mechanism for circulating its lymphatic fluid. In fact the lymphatic system relies on body movement, specifically exercise, to help the fluid within it to circulate around the body.

Rebounding is a special exercise because it specifically has a profound effect on the movement of the lymphatic system. The movement of jumping up and down on a rebounder literally works as though it were pumping your lymphatic fluids causing your lymphatic system to experience an influx of movements in circulation and energetic flow of liquids that are so important in flushing out toxins from your body and keeping your immune system at peak levels. In this way rebounding is extremely valuable and extremely beneficial to the functioning of your lymphatic system. Regular rebounding, even if it is for five to ten minutes every day, can help your lymphatic system stay in good shape.

Muscle Toning
Rebounding tones and exercises almost every muscle in your body. The simple exercise of jumping up and down on your rebounder requires your body to use all its muscles to work as a truly interconnected and composite unit. As you jump up and down your body requires its muscles to constantly contract and relax. This cycle of contracting and relaxing occurs in close succession while rebounding as your body repeatedly moves up and then down again to its landing position.

From the muscles in your toes, feet, calves, thighs, bottom, to your abdominals, your back muscles, and your arms all the way to your neck muscles all work together to support the whole body in the movements that is required for bouncing on a rebounder. In this way rebounding is extremely effective at keeping all your muscles toned and healthy. With the exercise variations that you can utilize during rebounding, a very well-rounded and holistic exercise regiment for keeping strong and well toned muscles can be easily achieved.

Heart and Lungs
The human heart is basically a muscle and this vital muscle is in constant use for our bodies. And just like any muscle in the body, the heart needs to stay fit and healthy through exercise. Through exercise the heart is strengthened and is able to work more efficiently at pumping blood to throughout the body. A weak heart, meaning one that does not get the sufficient amount of exercise that it needs, is a weak muscle. And weaker muscles find it much harder to perform and maintain proper function. Whereas stronger muscles are able to perform tasks easier and for much longer without tiring as quickly as a weaker muscle would.

Rebounding is an effective way of exercising your heart at a comfortable yet invigorating level. One of the best ways to exercise and strengthen your heart is by doing steady exercise of the larger muscles in your body. With rebounding the primary muscles required are your leg muscles and your legs contain some of the largest muscles in your body. Exercising the larger muscles in your body requires more oxygen and places more effort on your heart and your lungs. Your lungs collect and supply oxygen to your blood whilst your heart sends that oxygenated blood to the muscles that require it. So the simple equation is if your body needs more oxygen, then your heart and your lungs need to provide that oxygen to your body. If your muscles require oxygen at a faster pace then your heart and your lungs need to work harder to provide that oxygen faster, and will learn to do so.

When you jump on a rebounder, the constant cycle of jumping up and landing down over and over quickly requires your muscles to work at a fast speed hence requiring more oxygen at a quick pace to sustain the jumping movements. This makes rebounding an extremely effective aerobic/cardiovascular exercise. With regular rebounding a person's heart and lungs can become stronger resulting in an increased capacity for breathing and overall increased oxygen supply to cells and tissues throughout the entire body, increasing stamina, speed and resistance.

Blood Circulation
Although the human body has methods of ensuring that blood is circulated throughout the body, optimum levels of blood circulation are best achieved through proper and regular exercise. Whilst most exercise promotes circulation, rebounding in particular has a very potent effects on blood circulation. The action of moving up against gravity and then down to a landing surface that forces you to push up again into the air and against gravity is a very stimulating set of movements for the body. As all the muscles in the body contract and relax over and over again as is required on a rebounder, this contraction and relaxation creates a wavelike effect for blood in the body - making the it move faster and to more efficiently circulate the entire body. Areas of the body that have become used to a lack of circulation are stimulated back into proper circulation. And as more fresh and newly oxygenated blood reaches all extremities and areas of the body the entire body begins to function at a more proficient and productive level.

Cellular Functioning
Cells of the body are forced to become more active and efficient in order to sustain the needs of muscles during rebounding. As you rebound your body requires its muscles to interact and function in a demanding and stimulating manner forcing cells to activate in order for the body to perform. This stimulation forces cells to release any stagnant wastes and toxins that would have otherwise remained in the cells through inactivity. Cells that remained dormant or slow due to poor circulation are awakened and forced to reactivate.

Metabolism
Metabolism can be defined as the sum of all the biochemical processes within the body. There are thousands of metabolic processes that occur within the human body at any given moment. Just like any process, the metabolic processes within a person's body can vary in how efficiently and effectively it occurs. A body with good metabolism processes bodily functions - such as digesting food for example - more effectively. Good metabolism will mean that your body can utilize energy for itself better than someone with poor metabolism. A strong healthy body will have better metabolism than a weak body. As rebounding stimulates all the processes required for more effective muscle movements, blood circulation, heart and lung activity and cellular functioning, regular rebounding can greatly improve a person's metabolism, which in turn affects all parts of the body and how it performs.

Love my Needak Rebounder!! Looks and Feels like really good quality! Bouncing is so fun makes me feel like a kid. Light on my old arthritic bones too! This is why I purchased a rebounder as I read it is one of the best exercises for arthritis and is also super for blood and lymphatic circulation and more!! Win win! Customer service’s response was lightening fast and accommodating too. I forgot to add the promo code for a free spring cover. Haven't tried my rebounder yet. Just thought it strange that my rebounder was ordered on the 19th, delivered on the 21st (per FedEx), and I received an email from Needak on the 23rd, two days after delivery, informing me that my rebounder had been shipped and giving me a FedEx tracking number. Since I don't go in and out of my front door, and FedEx doesn't ring the door bell, it could have sat out there for several days. Fortunately, it wasn't stolen. Just wish Needak had given me a little more notice so I could have brought it in sooner.

My autistic son is 280 lbs and jumps alot everyday. He has strong calfs. We order a new one every year though as he jumps so much the mat will eventually buckle. But so far this trampoline is the best for the abuse he gives it.

I spent what felt like a small fortune in my barely employed 20s for a Needak rebounder.. back in the 90s! I wanted high quality at the time, and got it. My 14 year old daughter was bouncing for an hour a day throughout the pandemic before the 20+ year old rebounder springs started to protest -- snapping a few last week. She was super restless and I was thrilled to find for under $100 I can replace the springs, and same with the mat (just in case) and she'll be bouncing again in a few days. Pretty rare for an seemingly extravagant purchase in your 20s to hold its own when you're pushing late 40s. :)

Wow! I have been reviewing rebounders for about a year and finally decided on Needak. I placed my order but forgot to include the coupon for a free cover (which I ordered) so I sent an email after ordering, and received a really quick response assuring me that they would apply the credit. My PayPal account verified it immediately after I received the email. I am beyond impressed already! I’m looking forward to my rebounder and will update when I receive it ?

This was a life-changing purchase - my exercise fitness time has greatly improved! I had been thinking...that since I used to like jumping rope, I would most likely love jumping on a mini-trampoline too(less impact, no rope). I then watched a video of a lady using one of these for her workout (which she referred to as a “rebounder”), and the information she provided on its benefits were amazing! I did my research, & Needak was THE one for me for so many reasons, but most especially because it is the ONLY rebounder constructed to be especially gentle on the ankles & knees. It is used daily in my household & is enjoyable as well as beneficial. Everyone who is able to use it should own one. So good for you!
